We are Robert and Joywind, native artists of Shuswap, Simpcw First Nations, British Columbia and Mohawk/Scottish descent. We live in the Laurentian Mountains north of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. For more than a decade, we have applied our skills and dedication to building native spiritual tools, and sharing on the powwow trail.

All are products are hand-made, superbly crafted tools that are designed with your needs in mind. Here you will find powwow drums, hand drums, powwow drumsticks, drum bags and leather handbags. Our products are made using recuperated wild deer and moose hides, and selectively cut cedar, ash, butternut and cherry wood.

We produce native music under our Tribal Spirit Fair Trade Music label. Be sure to peruse our musicians’ area, and get to know the music of the growing number of singers and drummers now recording their music with us. Our win-win philosophy of fair pay for creative work lets us support native musicians the best way we know how.

NEW FOR Winter 2012:  Each year during hunting season we gather hides from hunters who are eating the meat but throwing the hides in the garbage....We decided this year to increase our collection.  SO as of now we are offering Deer and Moose Raw Hide.   The Deer are larger (12 to 15 sq ft) than normal and I will select clean/no hole hides....they cost $80 for one or 5 or more $70 each. Please email us your orders

Moose Rawhide for Powwow Drums!!!  Where we live hunters ALWAYS quarter the moose in order to get them out of the bush....So for a big drum you will need 2 quarters (one for each side) and one more for lacing.  So Raw Hide of one powwow drum  (3 pieces) are $250.  Please measure the diameter of your drum and I will ensure that the quarters I select fit your drum.  (Max size 28" diameter, sorry our quarters don't come any bigger)   This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Hand Drum Kits.  We make great hand drums and have learned over the years how to avoid many of the problems common to new drum makers...So to help you make your drum, we provide a old style hand bent white ash frame, cut the deer hide to proper size, punch the holes in a good way so they don't tear, and cut the lacing to the right thickness, enough to pull the drum and make the handle.  Our 16" Drum Kits are $85 each...

If you do not like credit cards or don't have one....you can still order from us....please contact us by email...we will figure it out...(even for downloading cds).

Our News

  • February 2012:  Our Hide collecting was hugely successful this year....In the end we shipped 45 pallets of hides to the tannery....They are working on them now and will be ready very soon.. New this year will be Moose Raw Hide for Powwow Drums. (give us a call or email for prices of our deer or moose rawhide.)  Also we are going to offer medium weight moose leather for moccasins, clothing etc.  Generally full thickness moose it really hard to make moccasins with, (too thick to sew) but this year we are going to plane it thinner so that the leather will have the strength of moose but thin enough to sew.  Also new this year....Hand Drum Kits!  Everyone loves to make their own hand drum, but finding great 'traditional' drum frames is VERY difficult.  So we offer "do it your self drums" in two ways....you can order the hoops and deer hides and you do all the work, or you can order kits. We cut out the deer leather for the drum (the hide goes up and over the back of the frame), we punch the holes (a common mistake is punching the holes to close to the edge and then the hole rips out), and we cut the lacing enough for pull the drum and make the handle. (another common problem is using bad or too thin lacing which then breaks when drying) and provide the hoop.  We have reputation for building great drums that last and now we are going to help you build great drums that last as well.
